Terms of employment & collective agreement

Every day, more than 100,000 cleaners, working for thousands of cleaning companies, ensure a clean and pleasant working and living environment in countless places in our country. This includes good and appropriate working conditions. The Cleaning and Window Cleaning Company Collective Labour Agreement is the collective labour agreement for the cleaning industry.

What does the collective agreement say?
A collective bargaining agreement (CBA) is a written agreement in which agreements on working conditions include. For example, about wages, allowances, payment of overtime, working hours, probationary period, notice period or pension. A collective agreement applies to a large group of people.
Every collective agreement has a start and an end date. Around the end date, collective agreement parties, usually employer and employee organisations, enter into consultations to agree on a new collective agreement. The term of the current cleaning collective agreement is from July 2024 to June 2026.

Employment contract
When you start working for your employer, you and the employer sign a labour contract (or employment agreement). An employment contract is a agreement between employee and employer, which contains working arrangements. An employment contract can be concluded for a fixed term (temporary contract) and an indefinite term (permanent contract).
Working time
The working time or working hours for full-time employment is 38 hours per week. The maximum working time per day is 9 hours. Overtime occurs after the 9th hour per shift or day. For overtime, working special hours and working on public holidays, you will receive an allowance.
Pay
Your employer classifies you in a job and wage group. The wage (salary) a cleaner earns depends on age, work experience and job group. This amount varies from €12.15 to €17.49 per hour and does not include holiday pay, pension accrual, overtime and allowances.
Allowances, benefits and travel costs
For overtime, working special hours and working on public holidays, you will receive an allowance. These allowances are added to your basic hourly wage. You will also receive a year-end bonus of 5% in December. Do you travel more than 20 kilometres from home to work and back? Then you will receive an allowance for your travel expenses.
Holidays
Per calendar year, for a 38-hour working week 197.6 hours of holidays accrued. When holiday hours are taken, salary is continued to be paid. You can schedule holidays in consultation with your employer. In some cases, it is also possible to have part of your holiday hours paid out with your salary.
Pension
As a cleaner, you build up a pension for later. Cleaners' Pension Fund is the pension fund for the cleaning and window cleaning industry. For more information visit the cleaning pension fund website: www.pensioenschoonmaak.nl
